Have you noticed the latest online craze?

So now that you're considering adding your dulcet tones to your site, in what way can you effectively use them? Depending on your website's content and theme, there are a variety of ways to incorporate your voice into your pages;
|
One thing to consider is the quality of your voice. If it's not all that pleasant to listen to, you may want to employ the help of a friend with acting or announcing experience, or you could hire a "professional" voice-artist .
If you’ve never recorded your speaking voice before and think it’s easy, you just may be in for a shock!
Try recording a few paragraphs and listen back, as if you are listening to a stranger, and write down your criticisms (or praise!) about what you are hearing. Play it to friends and family and ask for their feedback!
Its not just about the tone and quality of your voice, the delivery is also important – a message delivered in a bored sounding monotone will do nothing to promote your services no matter how gorgeous your tones sound!
While helpful criticism and experience helps, like any other creative skill, it can take years to develop a professional delivery. Since there is nothing like learning from a Pro I recommend this short Crash Course Voice-over tutorial for beginners...

And then there is the confidence factor…will visitors really buy products from someone who sounds insecure, unsure or stammers? You need to sound solid and sure about the message you are delivering.
Of equal importance is the content you are delivering…is what you have to say of VALUE?
Are you able to get your message across in direct language without beating around the bush with long-winded descriptions guaranteed to confuse or put listeners to sleep?
The Ideal solution is to have your own home recording setup - mixer, software, good microphone, engineering knowledge....hmmmm...not very likely you already have this all set up in your spare room...?
Solutions include contracting a recording studio to do this for you with either your own voice or someone else you know who can do a good job, alternatively the studio should be able to supply a professional voice artist.
Earthrise Audio has the production facilities and experience to do just that, and supply you with the professional finished product to your spesifications.
Rather Do it YOURSELF?
All you need is a reasonably good PC microphone (a USB Mic is best) and recording software.
One of the easiest 'do it yourself' Web Audio Recording packages is Impact Audio.
Not only does it allow you to record directly into the application using your PC and a PC Microphone, (or alternatively upload an existing audio file), you are able to add background music from a selection of 12 included audio ‘beds’. Music volume and fade in/out volumes can be set. There is an upgrade option to Impact Audio Pro which allows you to use your own music.
Impact Audio also lets you select your own style of audio player from several different styles, you can set the amount and size of the controls, and colourize them to match up with your website.
Another huge benefit is that you can set a redirect to a web page after the audio has finished playing, meaning that after getting all fired up by your verbal sales pitch, the visitor gets to see further information about your product or service and hopefully buys!
The sound clip can be set to play automatically when the page loads or ‘on demand’ requiring the visitor to click the play button.
(Though I tend to feel that blasting your visitor with potentially unwanted sound can be a bad idea, so leaving the choice to them to play the clip may be prefrable!)
You then get to preview the player and if you don’t like how it looks or sounds, just hit the ‘back’ button to change your settings.
Once you are satisfied with the player, it’s a simple step to name your file and specify the folder to save your audio files to. Impact Audio then saves your files which include the .swf Flash Audio player and an example .html page containing your player.
The final step is to insert the short script code in the spot on the webpage you wish your player to appear, upload the files to your site and voila – your site speaks!
